MonTrail Research is an independent research platform. It shares research on the questions shaping businesses and institutions in Africa and Europe, the insights each continent can offer the other, and lessons from around the world.
Each issue starts from a research question, tests it against the evidence, and proposes a named framework with the proof behind it and the first steps to take. Issues are published quarterly and read by leaders in Africa and Europe.

Our Research Standards
A Question, Not a Verdict
Every issue is titled as a research question. Our views are hypotheses, tested against the data, and we say when the data only partly agrees.
Primary Sources First
We rely on company filings, official statistics and institutions such as the World Bank, AfDB, UNCTAD and Eurostat, and we say clearly where data is thin.
Peers on Every Continent
We benchmark against comparable peers in Africa, Europe and beyond, and we show where each continent already leads.
Practical, Applicable Frameworks
Most of each issue goes to a named framework, the evidence that it can work and the first steps. Where we discuss a named organization, we check the facts with it first.
